How to get more Google reviews for your restaurant

Google reviews are often the first thing a new guest sees. A restaurant with many good reviews is far more likely to be chosen, and the best way to get them is simply to ask at the right time.

Ask when the guest is happy

The best moment is after they have eaten well and are paying. A short, polite request, for example “If you enjoyed it, a Google review helps us a lot”, works better than a long one.

Make it easy

The more steps, the fewer reviews. Put a link or a QR code that opens the Google Maps review page directly, on the table or with the bill. A guest who already has the phone out is much closer to doing it.

Reply to every review

Thank those who leave a good review and reply calmly to those who complain: acknowledge the problem, offer a fix and do not argue. Others who read it see how you handle a complaint, and that often convinces them more than the review itself.

Do not buy or reward reviews

Google prohibits purchased reviews and rewarding guests for a positive review. If it is discovered, the reviews are removed and the profile can be penalised. Ask honestly and collect real reviews.

Learn from criticism

If bad reviews mention the same thing, such as waiting or a dish, you have something to fix. Repeated criticism is the best to-do list for the restaurant.
